History

1988

Company was established by Pekka Nikander. The name "Nixu" derives from his family name, the Unix operating system and the computer student lab of the Helsinki University of Technology nicknamed "Niksula" where Mr. Nikander worked while studying.

1989

Nixu organizes a Virus Seminar as a prelude to information security business.

1990

Nixu was pioneering the TCP/IP march by helping customers in Internet based email systems.

1994

Full blown commercial ISP platform delivery to Telecom Finland, today called TeliaSonera. Nixu developed several generations of this platform and administered DNS service until 1998.

1996

First release of Namesurfer product for DNS administration. Ericsson a new customer.

1997

Nokia a new customer.

1998

Contract to implement and operate the super-node, international gateways and management systems of the national Internet for KACST in Saudi Arabia. Country organization established.

2000

Nixu Middle East FZ-LLC established and registered in Dubai Internet City.

2003

Nixu gains several major new banking and governmental customers in the Gulf region.

2006

Namesurfer product and business spin-off to Nixu Software Oy. Mastercard and Visa validated Nixu for the PCI data security standard auditor.

2008

Nixu Middle East gets more independence when the focus of Nixu Ltd. and Nixu Middle East are realigned.

2009

NXme registered as a new branding of the business in the MEA market place. The name derives from: New Generation Network Experts in Middle East.
